Strange Days...

Glen Cove JV Basketball won both of their games last week to bring their record to 6-3. Solid. The fun thing about this team is that they are really getting better as the season goes along. A LOT better. Daily practice, girls working hard and setting an example... every player is buying in. Winning is contagious... Glen Cove JV supposedly had not won a game in 3 years... WHAT? I did not know this until GraceAnne told me. Hard to believe, even harder to believe that 4 seventh graders and a coach who knows her stuff can have this kind of an impact.

Tris, Brady, Amara and Woody... JV Supastaaars!

St Hyacinth Storm CYO lost in double overtime to St Agnes Thurs nite. Last time these two teams met Storm won in double OT.... this time the Storm did not play well, never seemed to get going on either end and the tables were turned. The loss dug a big hole, putting the Storm's record at 5-6 going into their final game of the CYO season and needing at least a .500 record to reach the playoffs. After the St Agnes letdown the last crucial game was against a very good, 9-2 St Rose team. Not an easy task. Storm had already lost to St Rose in the first game of the CYO season. On Saturday the Storm rose to the occasion with their best effort of the season beating St Rose by 12 in an improbable upset. Unrelenting defense with girls yelling out screens and switches, it seemed like we had 8 girls on the floor. Playoffs next!

First Game7 "Swarm" practice was on Sunday morning 8am. LOVE the way this team looks. Useful pieces all the way to the end of the bench with situational players as well as really solid both ends of the floor type players. Second half of Island Garden superleague first and then AAU. Should be fun!

Two Glen Cove JV games this week, Great Neck North @ home Tues, Valley Stream South away Fri.. Trying to get Grace out to see Laura at St Johns after practice on Thurs.
