Graceketball

GraceAnne had a full weekend of basketball. On Friday night she scored 19 of 23 points for her CYO intramural team. On Saturday she played CYO with 7th and 8th grade girls scoring 11 as well as having some spectacular blocked shots. Sat afternoon we went down to Princeton where she and her running mate Grace Stone worked out with Carrie Moore for a couple hours focusing primarily on shooting and conditioning. On Sunday She and Stone had their Game7 Boot Camp workout in Rockville Centre where shooting was once again the focus. Balance, Eyes, Elbow, Follow-Through. Sunday night she slept really, really well. This weekend she has CYO intramural on Friday night. Her Long Island Lightning team plays their fiercest competition in the 10u division on Sat night at Island Garden. On Sunday Her CYO Storm team plays in the second round of the CYO Long Island Championships and on Sunday night she plays a sixth grade (11u) team at SUNY Old Westbury. Busy, busy, busy. Woody, Stone, Carrie, ...

12-0 regular season CYO for 2009-10! 24-0 the last two years, 31-0 including summer league. 40-1 since 2007-8. More work to be done. GO STORM!

G2 attended Game7 Boot Camp this past Sunday after knocking off Good Shepherd to complete another undefeated CYO season. Great workout and Marc Von Essen is a very nice guy with a very clear picture of what he is trying to accomplish with the girls. Essential, fundamental concepts clearly explained and executed, and a lot of hard work. Good stuff!

Saturday and Sunday mark the last two games of the CYO regular season. Sat. Grace's team plays a pretty bad St Mary's team but on Sunday they should get a challenge from Good Shepherd who they played last year in AAU. If they win both games they will be the only undefeated team in the "A" league for the second year in a row. GO STORM! Once this weekend is out of the way The Storm will participate in the CYO playoffs. They should do well. First half of Super League wraps up the following weekend. They should have schedules for the second half by then. The only loss Grace's team has in Super League is against a very good "sister" Lightning team. Be nice to meet them again to see if Grace's team has improved enough to beat them this go 'round.
