Brittany Hunter Interview

Image
Stumbled across this on a blog called Looking Up Court and just thought it was a funny interview, very Brittany and shows her positive outlook and sense of humor through some pretty tough experiences. " Looking Up Court : Briefly describe your time as a high school basketball player. Brittany : Playing in high school was a rollercoaster ride. My story is different because I went from being a novice to THE BEST in a matter of 3 years. While my school had an amazing inner city rivalry with another high school on the other side of town, I LOVED LOVED LOVED AAU basketball. Ohio is a basketball factory in my opinion…just think of the talent that came from there, and furthermore consider the consistent Ohio presence on the UConn team of late. Because Ohio is so competitive you didn’t have to travel very far to play against superior competition. In a nutshell playing basketball in high school was so much fun because thats when I got better and when we had SERIOUS rivalries! Lookin...

Princeton Trip

It was definitely time, probably long overdue. We finally got back down to Princeton to have the girls work out with Megan Griffith. Missed her! I hadn't realized that the last time we were able to do it was the day of The Storm CYO team's defeat to the Renegades in the CYO playoffs. That was kind of an ugly loss on what was an otherwise wonderful, albeit very long, day of basketball. This time Jordin Thomas, a new Game7 AAU teammate, was able to come along which was very cool! Jordin is a really nice addition to the team, hard worker, skilled player a solid contributor and very nice kid. Good opportunity for team bonding both on and off the floor. These three girls are a really good fit, push and encourage one another and work very well off of and with each other. All three girls worked very hard as Megan put them through their paces. Stone and Woody have not had a whole lot of floor time lately so they really needed this and you could see them start a bit slowly and ...

Bronx & Rockland Tournaments

The last two weekends GraceAnne has played with her Game7 sixth grade team in AAU tournaments. She's having fun, really likes the team this year, great parents great kids and all eight games were a lot of fun to watch. In the Bronx Lady Hawks Tip Off tournament the team went 3-1 blowing out the first three opponents and then being over-matched by an extremely talented 7th and 8th grade Brooklyn Saints team. It was a privilege and a great opportunity just being on the floor with an older more experienced team as good as the Saints. The core is the same but Grace's team has matured since last year and even since the CYO season. They share the ball, look to pass first and all the girls seem to trust one another... most of the time. Great help on the defensive end. On offensive, when there is ball movement it becomes contagious and any player that doesn't "buy in", over dribbles, holds the ball or takes selfish shots when someone else is open stands out like a s...
