Speed & Agility

Went out to St Mark's in Rockville Centre yesterday for Speed & Agility training. It was a nice afternoon and the girls had a good time jumping over things and running around. Good stuff to integrate into any workout. They worked hard and were feeling it when they were done.

COACH Carrie Moore!

Coach Carrie Moore It's always kind of sad when something that seems just too perfect, something that feels so right comes to an end or changes in some fundamental way. At the same time you're thankful and humbled to have had the experience, that moment of perfection, to have recognized it while it was happening and you can't help but feel excited about the next opportunity... what's next? How can you not be proud and happy for the success of someone who is and has been such a fantastic trainer/coach/example/mentor/advisor/confidant/and friend.  I love it when the good guys win! Mixed emotions all around but another good lesson that life, like basketball, is never static and is constantly moving forward and constantly progressing as an evolution. To succeed, you adapt to whatever life, to whatever the game, throws at you. Whatever happens life goes on, the game goes on, as long as there is a ball and a hoop the game is always there and will always be there j...

Game7 Marc Von Essen talks about shooting form and technique

Back to Boot Camp

Grace went back to Boot Camp for Mother's Day. This time Amara and Evangelia are both participating as well. Marc does a really nice job of motivating the kids and getting them to go all out. He also has an inexhaustible amount of info on how to go about doing the fundamentals the right way. Marc Von Essen's Game7 is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon and a great way to teach yourself that going all out is the only way to go. Great program!

AAU Metro Regionals

Grace's AAU team Lightning/Hudson went to the Metro Regionals in Rockland county this past weekend and did really well. They played two pool games on Saturday, won both to come in first place in their pool. They then played the second place team from pool two on Saturday morning and won that game to get to the Championships that afternoon. They should have won the Championship game, they were the bigger and faster better team, but they didn't. They never got in a rhythm, got intimidated by the screaming of the opposing coach and forgot to share the ball. LOTS of turnovers. Fun weekend! Very nice facility and we had fun hanging out with all the kids and their parents. By participating in the regionals they have an opportunity to go to Orlando in August and participate in the Jr Nationals. August in Orlando..... sounds... fun?
