Full Weekend of Basketball

Last weekend when we attended the Princeton v Penn game we spoke to Megan Griffith about training Woody and Stone, this weekend we went down for our first workout. Megan is very smart, motivated and enthusiastic, both Grace's responded very well and worked extremely hard for the full 90 min and beyond.

Megan Griffith was hired as the Director of Basketball Operations at Princeton in July 2010.  She is a 2007 graduate of Columbia University and a four-year letterwinner for the women's basketball team. She captained the Lions for three seasons and was named All-Ivy League in 2006 and 2007. She averaged 10.1 points per game during her time at Columbia. During her junior year, Griffth ranked 22nd in the nation in assists, averaging 5.5 per game, while chipping in 15.2 points per game. She was twice named Academic All-Ivy and was a member of the Arthur Ashe Sports Scholar Team two straight years. Following graduation, Griffith played three years of professional ball in Europe. She joined FoA Nice Basketball in Forssa, Finland during the 2007-08 season and was named the team's MVP at the close of the season. In 2008-09, Griffith led the Espoo Basket Team to the National Finnish Championship and the Finnish Cup Championship titles. During the year she was also a youth basketball coach for Honka Basketball Club. This past year, Griffith was a member of the Celeritas-Donar Basketball team in Groningen, Netherlands. In addition she was named a U20 Dames 1 assistant coach and U18 Northern Selection Team assistant coach, while working as a youth coach and clinic director for Celeritas-Donar. Griffith founded Back to Basics Basketball in 2008, an organization developed to teach basketball skills, while provide training and mentoring in her hometown.

Extremely nice person, very experienced and talented basketball player, coach and trainer.

After returning from Princeton Grace had just a couple hours before heading out for a Super League game at Island Garden in West Hempstead.

Her team won and she played very well grabbing rebounds, blocking shots and going coast to coast for a contested layup.

Sunday GraceAnne attended Game7 Winter Bootcamp in Rockville Center. It was lot of fun to watch. Grace did well and during the second half of the workout coach Von Essen put a 25lbs weighted vest on her to make it just a little more challenging. Try doing dishes or even just chillin' on the couch a bit sometime in a 25lbs weighted vest and you will get an idea of just how challenging! She actually seemed to enjoy it which was a little frightening.

Hudson Storm practice today to get ready for CYO playoffs. Grace is also going with her buddy Grace Stone to see the Sacred Heart v Kellenberg varsity game.
