Game7 Open Gym

Grace went to an open gym at St Mark's last night. Jourdin and Stone were both there and so were some other G7 girls and kids she knows from other teams. Got to see Coach George Moore who we hadn't seen in a while! George is a good man and did a great job training Grace a few years back, always makes me happy to see him! George is an assistant coach at Nassau Community College now.



Nicole did an extremely good job of talking to the girls about college, what her experience has been like, and running some drills while also giving them an opportunity to figure things out for themselves. Nice couple hours in the gym.

In a 3-2 zone you must pressure the ball with on-ball perimeter defense. This means closing out on the pass, going over screens, trapping the corners and ball denial, post players should be denying the post entry pass (fronting or 3/4 in the post). Defensive rotation is critical as it is in all zone defenses. This can be a fun defense to play that confuses offenses and leads to steals and breaks. A Gathering Storm!

GraceAnne's CYO team the St Hyacinth Storm is certainly shaping up, things are quickly coming together in practice. Just got the season schedule and the girl's are ready to go. First game the weekend of Oct. 23rd, can't wait! Another great practice!
