Hudson Valley Hornets Tournament

GraceAnne had one of the most difficult tournaments she has experienced since she began playing AAU basketball this past weekend. Her team did extremely well blowing out two teams, beating a very good Bull Dogs team and losing in the championship game in a back and forth game to the same Bull Dogs team. Grace was really not a factor in any of the games and spent most of the weekend on the bench in foul trouble.

She was frustrated and got upset but she has to learn there are going to be tough times and she has to just keep going and work through them. I have a lot of confidence in her skills and abilities at this point and I only wish she had the same confidence. Her mom thinks she hasn't fully recovered from hitting her head a month or so ago and she's probably right. Sometimes you recover physically from something like that right away but it takes some time mentally to get your swagger back.

When she gets herself back on track she can look back at these little bumps in the road as positive experiences that helped her out in the long run. I just hope she does have one of those break-out games soon because it's been difficult watching her struggle. Kills it in every practice and training session but just can't seem to stay involved on the floor during games.

"If I am going to be on the floor then I have a responsibility to my teammates to make a difference in the game." ~ Derek Fisher

Last Game7 Boot Camp immediately after the championship loss. Made it out to St Mark's in RVC about ten minutes early after hitting a bunch of traffic on the way back from Rockland County. Can't say enough good things about Game7. Marc has been pushing all the kids to put together a training regimen for the summer. Woody has hers mapped out and has done it a few times but hasn't show it to Marc yet. Maybe I'll have her email it to him which is another thing she needs to start doing. She's met so many cool people, she needs to learn how to keep in touch with them without having dad do it for her.

Also got a chance to chat with Nicole Capurso after the session. Super nice person with lots of knowledge of the game.
