Back on Track!

Swept the Adidas Classic tournament winning four games against decent comp. GraceAnne played very, very well contributing on both ends of the floor and scoring a quick 8 in the first game. More importantly she played solid defense all weekend without getting herself in foul trouble in any of the four games. I'm encouraging her to play up on her girl and deny the ball rather than laying off and blocking shots on help and recovery as she has a habit of doing. The team has become much better defensively so it shouldn't matter too much if she is a little less available, higher in the post on help. Many times the bigs give TOO MUCH help, doubling the ball in the post unnecessarily, and get burned on the weak-side. This weekend it definitely kept her out of foul trouble.



Right now she is at Princeton Overnight Camp. She will be there until Thursday. Stone, Amara and Jourdin went as well. They are staying in a very nice suite and seemed to be having a lot of fun when we left them! Four very nice kids!



Summer League begins this week at Northsport. Unfortunately we will miss Wednesday night's game which coach is trying to reschedule or cancel since half the team is in Princeton.

In a 3-2 zone you must pressure the ball with on-ball perimeter defense. This means closing out on the pass, going over screens, trapping the corners and ball denial, post players should be denying the post entry pass (fronting or 3/4 in the post). A Gathering Storm!

GraceAnne's CYO team the St Hyacinth Storm is certainly shaping up, things are quickly coming together in practice. Just got the season schedule and the girl's are ready to go. First game the weekend of Oct. 23rd, can't wait! Another great practice!
