Great weekend!







Great weekend! Grace had an early Portledge Panthers practice Friday and afterward we went to see the Hofstra Women's team beat Fordham. Riverside Hawks provided the tickets and most of the Hawks teams were in attendance. Very nice night for all the Hawks families.

Saturday morning Grace had a 9am Lady Lions practice at The Beacon in Bayside Queens. She was hitting her shots and going strong to the basket. At 2:00 we went to see Joe Tartamella and the St John's women's team beat St Francis at Carnesecca Arena. The Hawks provided tix for that as well so Grace got to sit with her teammates again.

Sunday we headed down to Princeton to see Megan Griffith and the Tigers raise last season's Ivy Banner. They beat the Marist Red Foxes which had Emma O'Connor, who is a senior now, and the freshman Brittini Lai, who we saw play for Irvington last year. The highlight of the trip was seeing Taylor Brown get into the game for Princeton late in the second half and score! Taylor is Jenna Brown's sister who Grace knows from playing with Game7 a few years back. She is a great kid and we were very happy to be able to speak to her after the game. We also spoke to Megan, Milena Flores and Coach Courtney Banghart after the game. Got home just in time to make it to a Game7 workout in Port Washington at 7:30.... Grace was tired but went hard in the workout. She looks solid going into the HS season.

In a 3-2 zone you must pressure the ball with on-ball perimeter defense. This means closing out on the pass, going over screens, trapping the corners and ball denial, post players should be denying the post entry pass (fronting or 3/4 in the post). A Gathering Storm!

GraceAnne's CYO team the St Hyacinth Storm is certainly shaping up, things are quickly coming together in practice. Just got the season schedule and the girl's are ready to go. First game the weekend of Oct. 23rd, can't wait! Another great practice!
