Selected

Courtney with another Ivy Title!
So, tonight will be the NCAA women's selections for the Tournament. Madness! Grace has a Rising Stars practice at LuHi at 6:30 and selections start at 7:00. It will be interesting to see where people are seeded this year but even more importantly, the regions they will be playing in. We have really good seats at Carnesecca for the first and second round games. Would be great to see some of the coaches and players we know, have a connection with!

The only team of ours, those that Grace has a direct connection to, that has an automatic bid is Princeton. They won the Ivy for the fourth year in a row. YAY Courtney, Megan and Milena! UConn, Kelly Faris and Heather Buck, will be in for sure and likely a #1 seed.... they will play in Bridgeport since it's close to home. Creighton, Coach Carrie Moore, is on the bubble but I think with their record, strength of schedule and making the tournament last year they will get in. Pretty sure Michigan, Kim Barnes Arico and Melanie Moore, will get in considering the season they had. St John's, Laura Barry, Nadirah, Shenneika, Joe Tartamella, had an up and down season but if they go 8 deep in the Big East they'll get in around a 10 seed.

Exciting time of year! Hoping that Carrie or Megan come to queens to play in the first round. Would be great to see them! It would also be interesting to see Kim and Melanie come back to Carnesecca... maybe the selection committee will get cute and have Michigan play St John's in the first round at a 7 and 10 seed or something?

Glen Cove Girls make the Playoffs!
Grinding.... (thanks for the pic Jae!)
GraceAnne is working hard on her game but even more on strength. Up to 160 sit-ups every day, push-ups, pull-ups. Got a work-out in at the middle school this week, practice with Rising Stars, training with Pro-hoops. She knows she has to step it up if she wants to play at the next level next year. She'll be playing with G7 McCombs in Island Garden Super League playoffs this weekend.

Glen Cove was out in the first round of the playoffs losing to Seaford. Grace played well and the team fought to the end. Grace's coach nominated her for All Conference which is a very nice honor for her. St Mary's lost to St Anthony's in the Catholic League Championship, Grace and I went to the game to see her friends play.  LuHi is still playing and faces Nazareth this Friday. Good luck to Stone and the LuHi girls and coaches!
