Summer League

I love summer league! No pressure. Doesn't matter if you win or lose as long as you play hard. Lots of kids that know one another and have played with and against each other. Kids having fun. I think it's the first time that GraceAnne really understands it's just about getting better, that's it. Pretty simple.

So far so good. Won their first two games in Freeport HS JV League. Won their first game in Molloy College Varsity League. Grace had a 13 point explosion in the first half of her Lightning Lepore game last night. Sat for a lot of the second half and ended up with 18.... which is actually pretty funny for me too bad for her since I promised her nike IDs if she scores 20. HA! Went straight to Rockville Centre and got 13 and 8 assists for Glen Cove Varsity. Played a lot of point. I didn't get to see it but her mother seemed quite pleased while keeping me updated via txt. Wish I could have seen how she handled the point, must've been interesting.

Two games Wed., two games Thurs., hopefully a workout with Laura on Fri.. Next week she is doing a Game7 camp in Freeport... I think. She's trying to get a friend to do it with her.

Getting into a nice relaxed summer groove.

3-2 Zone Principles and Rotations

In a 3-2 zone you must pressure the ball with on-ball perimeter defense. This means closing out on the pass, going over screens, trapping the corners and ball denial, post players should be denying the post entry pass (fronting or 3/4 in the post). A Gathering Storm!

GraceAnne's CYO team the St Hyacinth Storm is certainly shaping up, things are quickly coming together in practice. Just got the season schedule and the girl's are ready to go. First game the weekend of Oct. 23rd, can't wait! Another great practice!
