Nice JV Season

Very nice group of girls! Bright future!

Glen Cove JV still rolling along with an 11-5 record and one game to play. Today the team is going to do some community outreach. Coach Corinne Turner has them helping out at a local soup kitchen. Great thing for the kids individually and for the whole team as well. Friday will be the final game of what has been a very successful season. No clue what Grace will do next year yet. The varsity is 0-16, they don't seem to take the game, the coach, practices or the team very seriously... they haven't been very nice to the youngsters either... we'll see what happens.
Much more aggressive offensively

Game7 Swarm's first Super League game at Island Garden is Saturday. It will be interesting to take the newly minted Swarm out for their maiden voyage and see what they can do. If Storm 'n GCJV are any indication; no true point guard, every play going one direction on the floor or to one girl whose first option is herself it could be ugly. Very rarely have there been two passes leading to a shot. That has to change. It will evolve, it has to evolve. With this many good players if you don't share the ball it becomes immediately, overwhelmingly obvious. Ball movement is good basketball, good basketball is contagious and almost everyone on this team is a threat to score. If they look for the open girl, which they will, it could be beautiful.

Storm CYO season is over. Might just be the last season of Storm Basketball. Lost to a very good, very big St Rose team in the first round of the playoffs. Great season considering we played up, lost our starting point-guard and really had only four true, year 'round basketball players. Press "O" was a problem. Bad decisions and "lazy" passes in the open floor against the press killed us when we played the more competitive teams. The defense was usually very good but there were wa-ay too many turnovers in the losses.
