Goings on

Grace played extremely well in her summer league game last night. Grabbed rebounds, scored, shot when open, at least one very nice assist that I saw, defended well and tore up and down the floor. Only two fouls. Couple nice chase-down blocks on other people's girls. Wish she put the ball on the floor more but when she did she got HACKED... no call. Team lost by 4, she wasn't on the floor most of the second half including crunch time. Not sure what I missed. Must have been watching some other game.

LOVES Game7 Freeport Camp! Almost all boys and she is playing with the 7th to 10th graders. Says the older boys are much more fun to play with. They know how to play, don't grab jerseys, hit and foul and, after she blocked a few of their shots, they started passing her the ball. Jourdin and Amara are also doing it. Sounds like fun!

Basketball under the lights tonight, hopefully I'll be able to catch some of it this week. I really want to see the girls coach!

More coaching rumors, rumblings, murmurs... NCAA Div I this time, really hope this one happens 'cause it would be HUGE!

Yeah, I have to take some pics or vids tonight since this is turning into a text blog lately. Kinda boring.

3-2 Zone Principles and Rotations

In a 3-2 zone you must pressure the ball with on-ball perimeter defense. This means closing out on the pass, going over screens, trapping the corners and ball denial, post players should be denying the post entry pass (fronting or 3/4 in the post). Defensive rotation is critical as it is in all zone defenses. This can be a fun defense to play that confuses offenses and leads to steals and breaks. A Gathering Storm!

GraceAnne's CYO team the St Hyacinth Storm is certainly shaping up, things are quickly coming together in practice. Just got the season schedule and the girl's are ready to go. First game the weekend of Oct. 23rd, can't wait! Another great practice!
