Busy Weekend

The Storm lost their Championship game on Saturday to St. Pat's of Smithtown. Bummer. GraceAnne played well with 16 rebounds and 6 blocked shots she also had 3 pts and played solid defense. The team seemed to take the loss with grace, humility and as a philosophical, learning experience. Well, that and they complained about the officiating which was pretty bad.

She played two games on Friday night at St Pat's (Glen Cove) intramural CYO, probably wasn't a great idea.

The two Super League games later on Saturday were canceled due to snow that never came.

On Sunday GraceAnne, Grace Stone, myself and Rik Stone drove down to Princeton for a workout with Carrie Moore. It was a great thing to do after the tough loss and I think it made the girls feel better, like it's not over, basketball goes on. The workout was really intense with Carrie zipping passes to both of them in stride and playing defense that forced them to make quick decisions and read what their defender was giving them. They went all out, full speed the entire time. They ended by beating Carrie in a shooting competition (she was taking 3s and making it look easy, great fluid but compact shot) and as a result they had her run suicides. Funny.

Got back to Long Island just in time to hit Game7 and Marc Von Essen in Rockville Center. Only one or two other girls showed so we had the gym, and Marc's machines, all to ourselves. He has a great rebounding machine that shoots out passes to the girls, they had fun using it and seeing how many shots they could hit. Stone must have taken at least 150 jumpshots.

Don't want to look at what goes on this coming weekend yet. GraceAnne will attend the Tim Cluess camp at Island Garden next week over winter break.
