Last weekend, upcoming weekend

GraceAnne had a full weekend of basketball.
On Friday night she scored 19 of 23 points for her CYO intramural team.
On Saturday she played CYO with 7th and 8th grade girls scoring 11 as well as having some spectacular blocked shots. Sat afternoon we went down to Princeton where she and her running mate Grace Stone worked out with Carrie Moore for a couple hours focusing primarily on shooting and conditioning. On Sunday She and Stone had their Game7 Boot Camp workout in Rockville Centre where shooting was once again the focus. Balance, Eyes, Elbow, Follow-Through. Sunday night she slept really, really well.


This weekend she has CYO intramural on Friday night. Her Long Island Lightning team plays their fiercest competition in the 10u division on Sat night at Island Garden. On Sunday Her CYO Storm team plays in the second round of the CYO Long Island Championships and on Sunday night she plays a sixth grade (11u) team at SUNY Old Westbury. Busy, busy, busy.

3-2 Zone Principles and Rotations

In a 3-2 zone you must pressure the ball with on-ball perimeter defense. This means closing out on the pass, going over screens, trapping the corners and ball denial, post players should be denying the post entry pass (fronting or 3/4 in the post). Defensive rotation is critical as it is in all zone defenses. This can be a fun defense to play that confuses offenses and leads to steals and breaks. A Gathering Storm!

GraceAnne's CYO team the St Hyacinth Storm is certainly shaping up, things are quickly coming together in practice. Just got the season schedule and the girl's are ready to go. First game the weekend of Oct. 23rd, can't wait! Another great practice!
