COACH Carrie Moore!

It's always kind of sad when something that seems just too perfect, something that feels so right comes to an end or changes in some fundamental way. At the same time you're thankful and humbled to have had the experience, that moment of perfection, to have recognized it while it was happening and you can't help but feel excited about the next opportunity... what's next?
How can you not be proud and happy for the success of someone who is and has been such a fantastic trainer/coach/example/mentor/advisor/confidant/and friend. I love it when the good guys win! Mixed emotions all around but another good lesson that life, like basketball, is never static and is constantly moving forward and constantly progressing as an evolution. To succeed, you adapt to whatever life, to whatever the game, throws at you. Whatever happens life goes on, the game goes on, as long as there is a ball and a hoop the game is always there and will always be there just waiting for you.
| Creighton Assistant Coach Carrie Moore |
Carrie Moore has taken an assistant coaching position at Creighton University. Congratulations Carrie! The girls will be watching and learning from your continued success! I can't help but feel this is still just the beginning and there is so much more to come. To have the opportunity to have as an example to my daughter someone so talented, driven, beautiful, successful and yet so humble and giving of herself is an asset without measure. Carrie Moore is a treasure and Creighton should consider themselves extremely fortunate to have landed her. So, it's not and never will be "goodbye", there will always be a big part of Carrie in Grace and GraceAnne's game as well as in their lives and hopefully in their souls.
Go C-Mo! #33 for life! Show 'em what you got!
THANK YOU! WE LOVE YOU!

I stumbled across this while on the Web searching to see if Creighton had put anything out yet about Carrie’s new hire and found your blog. You can probably imagine how I felt when I read your generous words about my daughter.
ReplyDeleteHaving been so closely involved in her life through her collegiate years, watching her "fly" from a distance has been/tinged with melancholy.
Carrie has talked with me about your daughter and the special group of young athletes that she was working with. She’s also told me about you.
Let Grace and the other girls know that Carrie's brief time with them touched her life in so many ways and as for you, your friendship and support has been an answer to my prayers, that individuals would cross her path who would positively influence and care for her as she continues to grow her adult self.
Perhaps one day Carrie's path will cross yours again, on her recruiting trips with Creighton or some other University.
Carrie's Dad and I had some of the best years of our lives watching her play basketball. We missed only a very few games during her AAU and career at Western Michigan University. You can imagine how surreal it was to sit in the audience of a WNBA game with her suited up. Talk about dreams coming true.
She's been a real trooper, resilient, accepting the good with the bad and allowing herself to grow, as the game she played as a young girl changed into a business, and now a career.
If ever you need some advice about your daughter's basketball journey or experience I'm sure I've lived it in some way or another.
You appear to be doing everything right. We did the same thing, sought out mentors and coaches who would help her develop on the court and in the classroom.
It's an investment in time and money, but the payoff has been an amazing experience with our daughter.
Warm thoughts and gratitude,
C. MO's Mom, Carol

ReplyDeleteHi Carol!
ReplyDeleteYou truly have an extraordinary daughter. I can't tell you how pleased I am to have had my own daughter spend time with her. I plan on doing my best to always keep track of Carrie, what and how she's doing and look forward to all of her future success.
Thanks so much for your kind offer of b-ball parenting advice. Don't be surprised when I take you up on it! I'm doing my best but still finding my way with all of this.
Yours, Ken (a wonderful name btw ;o))
